Cultivating for future …
Infosys to hire 20000 engineering graduates:

Today I read that Infosys would be hiring 20K engineering graduates this year (2008-09) with an increased pay package of 3.25 lacs per annum; an increase of 8 % than the previous packages offered.

Infy a company known for its ethics, culture and employee friendly environment has yet again proved that even in this downturn what matters most is how you retain people and increase employee’s faith in the company.
From the HR point of view these are the practices for employee retention. Long back I read the case study of “South West airlines”, they also marketed their way out of recession by not retrenching but keeping their employees and by taking suitable measures of cost cutting. They were a huge success and made enormous profits where other airlines were not even close to them.
In this recession the word as suggested by many is to employ, not to retrench.

Infy is employing people Inspite of a lower demand in the software industry; one of the worst hit these days along with finance and real estate.

Well quoted "Proactive companies are preparing and hiring high performers for the future, as they don’t want to run after talent once economy revives in few years"

Good work by one of our own software giants.
We hope to see the same trend from other companies as well.
